Exclusive Interview with Benny Boy Rude

“Springfield made me, Bronx paid me,” says Benny Boy Rude, also known as Drip God. From an early age, music was a part of his world. Riding around with his mom while she played Mary J. Blige, Foxy Brown, Jodeci, and Keith Sweat—and with his dad blasting Jay-Z and Nas in the car—Benny would often fall asleep to the soundtrack of legends. Those early influences built the foundation for the artist he would become.

His journey into making music, however, was shaped by more than just inspiration—it was born out of real life experiences. “Red Beam Leem, myself, and my incarceration,” he says. Locked up for murder, Benny turned to writing as a form of survival and expression. With a pen, paper, and a burning drive, he began creating raps behind bars, a practice that transformed pain into purpose.

When it comes to describing his music, Benny Boy Rude keeps it real: it depends on the beat and the artist. He can craft a song in 10–30 minutes, but if it’s with a celebrity, he’ll take up to 30 days to make sure the track is flawless. His process is raw and unfiltered—mumbling and walking around while listening to the beat until the bars hit him naturally. “I usually roll up some gumbo every session,” he adds with a grin.

If given the chance to share the stage, Benny would choose Max B or French Montana, two artists he respects for their grind and influence.

Right now, he’s focused on his upcoming project, “GEB 2”, which follows his earlier releases Balling Like I’m Benny 3 and Crashing Out 2. The album tells stories rooted in his real life experiences, bringing listeners deeper into his world of resilience and survival.

But Benny Boy Rude also has a message for the industry: stop focusing solely on likes and followers, and start recognizing the raw talent in the underground. “There’s a lot of talent out here,” he emphasizes, pushing for more opportunities for artists who don’t have the machine behind them.

Currently, Benny is pushing his “GEB” album, available on all streaming platforms. Whether it’s a track on Spotify, a video on YouTube, or his name in a search bar, fans can easily find his work everywhere.

To his fans, Benny offers heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you for all the support you’ve been giving me over the past few years. Let’s continue this journey. The goal is to reach the mainstream major leagues, so let’s see how far I can go. I’m looking to get a distribution deal and manage other serious artists.”
