Exclusive Interview With Justis Bratt
Exclusive Interview Justis Bratt
Q. Where are you from? and introduce your self.
My name is Justis Bratt. I’m a rapper from RVA. Hip-Hop + Rap may be my category, but I see myself as more than that. I make music of ny genre and more so use rap and instrument to convey my message.
Q. Is it difficult to be a rapper?
Yes, it’s extremely difficult, especially on the independent level. Trying to navigate radio, playlisting, and promotion without major label backing is very trying. Not to mention, male rappers are taken more serious than female rappers as female rappers are constantly reduced down to how sexy we can appeal. It’s hard trying to sell yourself for your talents when the main thing people wanna know and see is your body. It’s hard, but never impossible. Fortunately, we live in a social media ran music industry. If an artist, like myself, were to take the time and nail down a proper social media marketing plan, they can open many doors for themselves. It’s much harder without major label backing, but it can be done. You just have to believe in yourself and never give up.
Q. Who are you inspired by?
A person that inspire me most these days is Lil Nas X. He’s constantly fighting being put in a cookie cutter box and strives to shine for his music and artistry. I relate to him a lot in that sense.
Q. What music are you pushing right now? where can readers find you and your music.
I’ve recently came out with my new song Look How I Ate! I love this song. It mixes the perfect about of bass and lyrical attitude. It’s currently available on all streaming and buying platforms. Anywhere you can get music, my song is there.
Q. What makes you different from a lot of artist?
I feel like what makes me different is my flow. I never stick to one singular flow on my songs. I’m constantly doing flow changes. I like to do different voices and characters in my music. It makes the songs more fun, exciting and rememberable.
Q. Tell us about your upcoming project.
I’m currently working on my new EP Justis League. I hope for it to come out in the fall. It’s called Justis League because the songs were hand picked by my supporters and my support system is called the Justis League. Being that they picked the songs, it was only fitting to name the EP after them. Music videos, more shows and a little dabble with commercials.
Q. What is your biggest accomplishment as a rapper?
My biggest accomplishment has to be with my previous release Haha (Please Be Kind). The song was release by Republic Records/UMG. It was sparked by my freestyle to the beat going viral on TikTok (which now has almost 4M views) that song went to chart in over 5 countries on iTunes. It’s one of my proudest releases.
- Q. Any message to your fans?Don’t wait for anyone to get it for you. Success is what YOU make it. YOU have to put in the leg work, YOU have to get up go to those networking events, YOU have to go to those meetings. It’s all on YOU.
