Donald XL Robertson - Interview

Donald XL Robertson Interview

  1. Q. Where are you from? and introduce your self.

My name is Donald XL Robertson I'm a certified multi-Platinum and Gold producer from New Orleans

  2. Q. Is it difficult to be a rapper?

Being a rapper/producer is not difficult especially if you're gifted, it's getting discovered that's the difficult part, creating valuable content for people to consume and keeping an eye on all the business around your music can be overwhelming. Picking your team, that's also very difficult some rappers bring their homies along but that's not always in the artist's best interest. You definitely have to have some hustle about yourself mixed with some book smarts and street smarts.

  3. Q. Who are you inspired by?

I'm inspired by the rappers that breakthrough independently, if I keep hearing about an artist that means they're in the right circle's or close to them, they're hustling out here, hundreds of rappers drop new music weekly, and most likely you'll never hear about them, so to my point, if an artist name keeps coming up I know they had to work and hustle hard to get that cracking. I respect that. These are people who never gave up Nipsey Hussle, Young MA Master P, Jay Z, Tech Nine people like that.

  4. Q. What music are you pushing right now? where can readers find you and your music.

I (Donald XL Robertson, Nolia Clap) produced an album titled Land of The Lost for a New Orleans artist Lost Dogg with Blaqnmild (Drake) and DJ Ron (Mystikal) I want people to hear it I feel everybody on the project went in. Lost a real general out hear and he sounds like it. Lost Dogg got something with him, he's a thinker and it comes out in the music it's intelligent ignorance to sum it up.

  5. Q. What makes you different from a lot of artist?

I understand the power of networking and sharing the spotlight, that's how you come up together a lot of artists should give credit to the people behind the scenes and by not doing that it diminishes the growth potential of a movement. I pull everybody up that's what makes me different.

  6. Q. Tell us about your upcoming project.

I'm currently working on some big records with Ray J, Lost Dogg & B-fresh that's all can say for now but we have some heat in the works and many more, stay tuned.

  7. Q. What is your biggest accomplishment as a rapper?

Presenting my parents with my 1st gold record the journey was long and to show them the fruits of my labor, that was a big moment for me.

  8. Any message to your fans?
Please copy and paste your music and social media links here.

My closing message to the upcoming artists would be to learn and respect the process, invest in yourself put up your own money, and follow your heart, don't let anybody trick you out of your position. Hang around people who do what you want to do, and most importantly find people who share your same vision.
