Fresh Layers Music Festival Teams Up With Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC

Written by: Julz Mancini

During the difficult times we face, creatives have been met with limitations pertaining to entertaining their audiences and networking in person. With venues being closed, music artists have turned to social media more than ever, creating innovative ways to thrive in the music scene.

Fresh Layers Music is a music blog that has assisted artists in promotion around the world. Interviewing artists from England, Japan, Australia, Egypt, Romania, and the U.S., to name a few, has helped, not only the artist, but the blog to gain traction in the industry. Partnering up with Launch, a virtual concert venue has opened doors for Fresh Layers Music to showcase talent while also monetizing from the virtual festival. The profit, in which they accumulate however, is not for keeps. As if developing a virtual music festival for creatives to utilize wasn’t enough, Fresh Layers Music gives the proceeds to “The Felix Organization”, a non-profit founded by Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC.

The Felix Organization’s primary goal is to enrich the lives of children by presenting new opportunities and experiences within the foster care system. Since the initial launch of the non-profit in 2006 The Felix Organization has served more than 10,000 children in foster care. The organization facilitates programs throughout the year including Beyond Camp, Secret Santa, and the Felix Friendship Circle. Beyond Camp has given youth in the foster care system the ability to take dance lessons, guitar lessons, and gymnastics, to name a few. Furthermore, Beyond Camp has also funded equipment such as laptops, textbooks, etc. The Secret Santa program delivers hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts to the youth within the foster care system during holiday seasons. Last but not least, The Friendship Circle gives teens in foster care amazing and unforgettable experiences by sending them to Broadway shows, movies, and professional sport events.

Partnering up with Fresh Layers Music, The Felix Organization is met with another opportunity to give back to the youth. This is the perfect equation for success. As music artists bless the virtual stage, every dollar acquired by the audience is placed in the hands of children in need. This year’s theme for the music festival is Foster Creativity, incorporating the two main components and purposes of this event.

The artist line up for January 29th are as follows; Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC, Oberhofer, Spaceface, Old Man Canyon, Mega Ran, M.A.G.S., Big Yuki, GRMLN, Dylan Chambers, The Happy Fits, Vinyl Williams, Reptaliens, Eche, Boshia, Ben Kessler, Migs718, Channel The Sun, Revenge Wife, Andre Merritt,  and Pearl & The Oysters.

With a diverse line up, the music festival is sure to bring in audiences from around the world. Just as music brings us together, so does the well-being and enrichment of our youth. I am honored to shine light on this wonderful cause. To purchase a ticket or donate, please click on the link below.
