ViennaCC – Turning Heartbreak into Art with “Watching You Leave”

Austrian artist ViennaCC has once again proven that music can be both cinematic and deeply personal. His latest release, “Watching You Leave,” is more than a breakup song — it’s a moving exploration of love, loss, and the haunting silence that follows.

Set against a cold, urban backdrop, the music video unfolds like a diary of heartbreak. Viewers follow ViennaCC through memory-laced flashes — moments of laughter, love, and the emptiness left behind. The final fade-out, where he stands alone in the middle of an empty street, captures the essence of emotional isolation. “It’s like a diary of loss, written in images instead of words,” he explains. “That’s what heartbreak really looks like when the lights go out.”

And because ViennaCC always finds a way to balance drama with humor, he added a playful touch: “I threw a pug into the scene. Pugs always have that heartbreakingly sad little face — it’s like a tiny symbol of melancholy, but also a wink to the audience.”

A Multimedia Elegy

ViennaCC describes “Watching You Leave” as a “multimedia elegy.” The song’s lyrical depth and the video’s cinematic tone work hand in hand to tell one cohesive story. “For me, the visuals and the music are one,” he says. “They’ve got to move together — when you hear it and see it, you should feel it in the same heartbeat.”

This balance between sound and vision has defined ViennaCC’s career. His songs often blend rock, pop, and emotional storytelling, resulting in chart success — with multiple entries in the Top Ten of the World Indie Music Charts and European Indie Music Charts.

Crafting Sound with Soul

ViennaCC produces his music in his own studio in Vienna, where he plays most instruments himself — from guitar and bass to piano and synthesizer. “Being creative isn’t a 9-to-5 job,” he laughs. “Inspiration hits anytime. I usually start with the lyrics, then build the music around them. And if it doesn’t sound right, I just flip it until it feels right.”

For him, melody is everything. “A good song must work even if it’s just voice and guitar around a fireside,” he says. “And I like it rocky because I’m tall and have low blood pressure — I need hard drums to turn me on.”

That mix of humor and precision makes his music both technically strong and emotionally resonant. “My goal is simple: I want people to sing along,” he adds. “I want melodies that stick — what we’d call an earworm in German — something that makes you move and feel at the same time.”

Experience Across Worlds

Before diving fully into music, ViennaCC’s background spanned programming, journalism, and management. “Every experience adds something,” he says. “I’ve worked in data centers, so I never feared technology — and that’s helped me a lot in music production.”

His creative curiosity extends beyond sound. ViennaCC is also an award-winning music video producer and photographer, with accolades from film festivals and nominations at major music events.

Humor, Humanity, and the Heart of ViennaCC

What truly makes ViennaCC stand out is his spirit — that mix of wit and wisdom that shines through his work. He famously joked, “My dream is to upgrade from triangle to trapezoid,” and it captures his whole outlook: ambitious, playful, and always evolving.

“I just hope everyone gets the jokes,” he says. “Sometimes I sneak gags into my lyrics or videos — like the pug in the street. For me, the day it stops being fun is the day I stop doing it.”

Blending Eras, Shaping the Future

Musically, ViennaCC draws from a vast range of influences — from classical masters like Beethoven and Strauss to rock legends like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and modern icons such as Taylor Swift. “Maybe it all just swirls around in my head,” he muses, “and what comes out is something new — my own twist on all those inspirations.”

What’s Next for ViennaCC

Looking ahead, the artist shows no signs of slowing down. “I’m always collecting ideas,” he shares. “You’ve got to grab them before they disappear. As long as I have inspiration, I’ll keep making songs and videos. But who knows what the future holds? Apollo, the god of music, hasn’t been returning my calls lately.”

With “Watching You Leave”, ViennaCC once again proves that even in heartbreak, there’s humor, beauty, and melody. It’s not just a song — it’s a story, a film, and a feeling that lingers long after the music fades.
