The track tells the story of a relationship where truth doesn’t necessarily lead to healing. “It’s about a female asking for the truth to make sure things were right, but sometimes, the truth doesn’t help anything. I gave out my darkest secrets, and it hurt me in the end. After the conversation, we drifted away. I played the song for her the last time I ever saw her—she cried—and then she blocked me on everything.”

Much like the movie’s protagonist, 9kshawn relates to the struggle of having to figure out life without a guiding figure. “The movie is about a kid who never had a father and had to teach himself how to be a man, how to hustle, how to grind. That’s my life. I’m the black sheep of my family. I had to push myself, stay positive, and be independent,” he says.
