Twenty 85: A Journey Through Music, Legacy, and Impact

For over two decades, the artist known as Twenty 85 has been a steadfast figure in the music scene, carrying with him the influences of legendary rap icons like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Twista, Nas, and many more. With a career rooted deeply in the fast-paced, lyrically intricate styles of the Midwest, Twenty 85 has crafted a sound that is both versatile and powerful—a reflection of the genre's evolution and his own personal growth.

Starting from humble beginnings, Twenty 85 has steadily climbed the ranks, performing in iconic venues across the United States. From Magic City in Atlanta to the Eagles Club in Milwaukee, his stage presence has been honed through years of experience, each performance building on the last. "Every show, every venue is different," he shares, reflecting on his journey. "At the end of the day, the show must go on, and with each performance, I strive to perfect my craft."

In 2019, Twenty 85's career reached new heights when he won the Rapfest at Club Structure, taking home a 2008 Saturn Outlook SUV. "The reaction I received when performing 'Gangshit' confirmed that I could make this music thing really happen," he recalls. This victory not only solidified his belief in his music but also fueled his motivation to keep pushing forward. Despite a few setbacks, like the infamous transmission lock on his prize vehicle, the experience remains a pivotal moment in his career.

Twenty 85’s passion for music is more than just a career—it's his therapy, his medicine, and his life. "Music is my outlet from the world," he explains. This deep connection to his art is evident in his 2020 project, The Voice, released on SoundCloud. The project was a turning point for Twenty 85, allowing him to channel his experiences and struggles into powerful, relatable tracks. "The Voice is me telling my story," he says, emphasizing the significance of speaking for those who feel unheard.

His latest single, "Popping My Shit," has been well-received on platforms like YouTube and Spotify. The track, produced by Victory, is a testament to his ability to create music that resonates with listeners, particularly in a club setting. "I wanted a song that you can play in the club and get a nice reaction from," he explains. The message is clear—whatever you do, do it to the fullest.

Twenty 85’s vision extends beyond music. As he continues to build his brand, UNT VISION, he aspires to make a positive impact not just through his music but also by creating opportunities for others. "My biggest payoff will be seeing my people happy and not have to stress anymore," he shares, with a long-term goal of opening a youth center to provide resources and outlets that were lacking during his own childhood.

As Twenty 85 looks to the future, his focus remains on branding and expanding his reach across mainstream platforms. His ultimate goal? To bring change to the hip hop or rap culture, offering a unique perspective that challenges preconceived notions about the genre. "A lot of people look at rap as bad, but it's a way that we express ourselves," he asserts.

With upcoming projects, collaborations, and potential tours on the horizon, fans of Twenty 85 can expect more from the artist who has dedicated his life to music. As he continues to refine his craft and share his story, one thing is certain—Twenty 85 is more than just an artist; he’s a force in the music industry with a legacy that’s only just beginning.
