Exclusive Interview - Sheridan

  1. Q. Where are you from? and introduce your self.

My name is Sheridan and I grew up in Cortland, a small town in Upstate New York.

  2. Q. Is it difficult to be a rapper?

It definitely is but in general I never look at music at a job because it’s what I love. In terms of rapping, I think it’s what I struggle with most confidence wise because I’ve always felt singing comes more naturally. I just love hip-hop too much to ever stop making it or letting it influence my music.

  3. Q. Who are you inspired by?

I grew up listening to a lot of Snoop & Dr. Dre in my CD player. I really liked having music to go to sleep when I was a kid and my dad had a massive collection so he’d also play a lot of Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles & George Clinton. I think all of then influence what I make today. Mac Miller has been my favorite artist since I was around 12 so I’d say he’d probably my biggest influence along with artists like Tyler, the Creator, Charli XCX, Father John Misty & Lil Uzi. I’m lowkey really into Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift & Rihanna as well.

  4. Q. What music are you pushing right now? where can readers find you and your music.

The lead single ‘Where’s the Ref?’ off my EP, ‘On Myself’ is out now and available worldwide on all streaming services. The entire EP is set to hit the airwaves 6/18.

  5. Q. What makes you different from a lot of artist?

I focus on 3 main things as an artist: Relatability, Originality & Versatility. I think while there are are a lot of artists who are relatable and some who are original, there are very few with the versatility that I strive for. One of my goals is to have a song for everyone, because I love all genres of music. I really strive to make every song sound different and consistently grow as an artist by trying new things and atepping outside my comfort zone. I’m not afraid to make a mistake.

  6. Q. Tell us about your upcoming project.

‘On Myself’ is my second project and a collection of 8 of the dozens of songs I recorded while in quarantine. My goal with the EP is to properly introduce myself to the industry by giving a peek at some of my story and showing off a lot of the different sounds i’m capable of making.

  7. Q. What is your biggest accomplishment as a rapper?

I feel like my biggest accomplishments are ahead of me, but i’m really proud of myself when friends or fans hit me up about relating to my music. There isn’t really a better feeling then someone else identifying with something you not only wrote, but also recorded. Another big one is the closing track ‘I Miss You Mom’ off my first project having 600+ individual tik-toks made for it by people who also lost their mothers. It brings tear to my eyes everytime I check to see how many have been made.

  8. Q. Any message to your fans?

Thank ya’ll so much for supporting me till this point and always believing in me. To new fans, i’m so stoked that you all were able to identify with my message and I promise I wont disappoint ya’ll. Make sure you follow me on Spotify as well as my social media accounts and stay tuned for more updates on ‘On Myself’ and anything I might have coming next.
